Voting Rules for Induction
Each member of the Staten Island Sports Hall of Fame Committee gets one nomination
He or she is required to furnish documentation on the nominee, detailing biographical information, qualifications and accomplishments
Committee members are given the information, which they are asked to examine prior to the voting meeting.
At the voting meeting, each candidate is discussed among all committee members.
Only committee members in good standing and who are present are allowed to vote.
There are two ballots taken; for a candidate to be named to the Hall of Fame, he or she must receive 80 percent of the vote.
Those candidates not receiving 80 percent on the first ballot, but who obtain a majority of votes, are eligible for the second ballot.
Anyone who receives 80 percent on the second ballot is also elected.
Any nominee who achieves a majority of votes on the second ballot, but who does not receive 80 percent of the final vote automatically will be carried over as a nominee for the next year and does not have to be formally nominated by a committee member.
